Summer Undergraduate Workshop RSVP’s Due by June 14th!

Final details regarding the 2010 Undergraduate Summer Workshop have been distributed via email to the three required chapters officers.

RSVP’s for all attending chapter/colony officers must be submitted by Monday, June 14th. With the RSVP, please include the attendee name, office and any dietary needs/restrictions or physical restrictions of the attendee. Dietary needs/restrictions must be communicated by 6/14/10 in order to be accommodated.

KI Chapter Co-Hosts 1st Annual Kappa Family Day

kappa iotaSALEM, New Hampshire - August 15, 2010 - Grab your letters and your family and friends and come join the fun for the 1st annual Kappa Family Day at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH co-hosted by Kappa Iota Chapter. The event provides an opportunity for ALL Kappa Brothers and Sisters to get together in a family friendly atmosphere.

Tickets are only $38.00 per person and includes full park admission, lunch and free parking. The All-You-Can-Eat Barbecue is scheduled from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm and includes: hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, baked beans, potato salad, garden salad, soft drinks, fruit punch and ice cream cups.

Canobie Lake Park is located 35 minutes from Boston, MA; 35 minutes from Concord, NH; 1 1/2 hours from Providence, RI and 1 2/3 hours from Portland, ME. Directions can be found on the Canobie Lake Park website.

Kappa Mu Chapter Runs Away to Join Circus

Kappa Mu chapter sisters Chelsey Ellis, Megan Linscott, and Katrina BoylesPRESQUE ISLE, Maine - May 2010 - The Sisters of Kappa Mu chapter recently ran away to join the circus; The Anah Temple Shrine Circus, to be exact. The circus was held May 6th, 7th & 8th at the Forum in Presque Isle, Maine, but the sisters of Kappa Mu chapter started their work the day before, working straight through the end of the circus.

Many sisters, both active and alumnae, volunteered their time to spin cotton candy sold at the circus, with proceeds benefiting the Shriners Hospital for Children. The sisters of Kappa Mu chapter have worked with the Shriners for several years including their ongoing efforts to donate to the Shriners’ Can Tabs Collection Program, which has run since 1989.

Kappa Alpha Gamma Chapter Alumna Sister Appointed to Executive Board

Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority, Inc. Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Kerry McDonnell (Kappa Alpha Gamma Chapter) to its executive board. Kerry has been selected to fulfill the term left vacated after the April ‘10 elections at our annual Convention.

Kerry joined the National Board of Directors as an associate board member in May 2004 and has been a vital volunteer for our organization both as a field consultant, as a committee chair and as our National Chaplain. In April of 2009, Kerry received the honor of being the first sister of Kappa Alpha Gamma Chapter to receive the Kappa Rose in recognition for her hard work and determined principles.

Kerry’s devotion and jovial demeanor will provide a great service to our membership in her role as a Member at Large on the Executive Board.

Kappa Omicron Seniors Participate in MCLA’s Annual Undergraduate Research Conference

kappa omicron bannerNORTH ADAMS, Massachusetts - On Thursday, April 22, 2010, four Kappa Omicron Colony seniors presented their research projects at MCLA’s Annual Undergraduate Research Conference. Jocelyn Lampiasi and Deanna Larrabee presented their project, The SAMfund: For Young Adult Survivors of Cancer, for their leadership class. Nhi Lam presented her psychological research study, Intimacy and Quality of Cyber-Relationships Versus Face-to-Face Relationships. Jeanette Won presented her psychological research study, The Effects of Smoking on Perceived Stress and a psychological analysis of personality, The Man Behind the Scenes: Quentin Tarantino.

2010 Kappa Eta Alumnae Associations’ Family Games Day

Events will include horseshoes, croquet, bocce, volleyball & family games. In addition, the Kappa Eta Alumnae Association meeting will be held Saturday morning 9:00 am - 10:30 am.

Kappa Eta Chapter Continues Its Dedication to the Special Olympics

Parade of Athletes at UMM Special OlympicsMACHIAS, Maine - May 6, 2010- The Washington County Special Olympics is held annually at the University of Maine at Machias on the first Friday of May. Athletes of all ages from across the county compete in events including the 25m, 50m, and 100m runs and walks, the softball throw, the long jump and various wheelchair events.

Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority’s Kappa Eta Chapter has worked hand in hand with the Special Olympics committee for decades to raise money and run this event. The sorority chapter annually recruits other Greek organizations, athletes, members of the recreation department, and other interested students and faculty as volunteers. The Special Olympics is a cornerstone of Kappa Eta Chapter’s philanthropic activities and they have pledged their continued support for years to come.
