KI Chapter Co-Hosts 1st Annual Kappa Family Day

kappa iotaSALEM, New Hampshire - August 15, 2010 - Grab your letters and your family and friends and come join the fun for the 1st annual Kappa Family Day at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH co-hosted by Kappa Iota Chapter. The event provides an opportunity for ALL Kappa Brothers and Sisters to get together in a family friendly atmosphere.

Tickets are only $38.00 per person and includes full park admission, lunch and free parking. The All-You-Can-Eat Barbecue is scheduled from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm and includes: hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken, baked beans, potato salad, garden salad, soft drinks, fruit punch and ice cream cups.

Canobie Lake Park is located 35 minutes from Boston, MA; 35 minutes from Concord, NH; 1 1/2 hours from Providence, RI and 1 2/3 hours from Portland, ME. Directions can be found on the Canobie Lake Park website.

Kappa Mu Chapter Runs Away to Join Circus

Kappa Mu chapter sisters Chelsey Ellis, Megan Linscott, and Katrina BoylesPRESQUE ISLE, Maine - May 2010 - The Sisters of Kappa Mu chapter recently ran away to join the circus; The Anah Temple Shrine Circus, to be exact. The circus was held May 6th, 7th & 8th at the Forum in Presque Isle, Maine, but the sisters of Kappa Mu chapter started their work the day before, working straight through the end of the circus.

Many sisters, both active and alumnae, volunteered their time to spin cotton candy sold at the circus, with proceeds benefiting the Shriners Hospital for Children. The sisters of Kappa Mu chapter have worked with the Shriners for several years including their ongoing efforts to donate to the Shriners’ Can Tabs Collection Program, which has run since 1989.

Kappa Alpha Gamma Chapter Alumna Sister Appointed to Executive Board

Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority, Inc. Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Kerry McDonnell (Kappa Alpha Gamma Chapter) to its executive board. Kerry has been selected to fulfill the term left vacated after the April ‘10 elections at our annual Convention.

Kerry joined the National Board of Directors as an associate board member in May 2004 and has been a vital volunteer for our organization both as a field consultant, as a committee chair and as our National Chaplain. In April of 2009, Kerry received the honor of being the first sister of Kappa Alpha Gamma Chapter to receive the Kappa Rose in recognition for her hard work and determined principles.

Kerry’s devotion and jovial demeanor will provide a great service to our membership in her role as a Member at Large on the Executive Board.

2010 Kappa Eta Alumnae Associations’ Family Games Day

Events will include horseshoes, croquet, bocce, volleyball & family games. In addition, the Kappa Eta Alumnae Association meeting will be held Saturday morning 9:00 am - 10:30 am.

Kappa Eta Alumnae Association presents Lucy Duff Memorial Scholarship

Kappa Eta Alumnae Association presents 2010 Lucy Duff Memorial Scholarship
The Lucy Duff Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually by the Kappa Eta Alumna Association to a Kappa Eta sister who is currently pursuing academic interests, maintains a respectable GPA, actively participates in philanthropic activities and best exemplifies the ideals of Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority.

Lucy Ann Duff graduated from the University of Maine at Machias with a 4.0 GPA and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. Lucy loved teaching and had a long and prosperous career of twenty plus years in education. She was a wonderful sister and an amazing friend; it is only fitting that she be remembered and honored with a scholarship in her name.

This year’s recipient of the Lucy Duff Memorial Scholarship is Amanda Corey.

The Jeannette M. Collette Kindness Award is presented to the chapter which best exemplifies acts of philanthropy performed by the local chapter for an individual, for their college, community, an organization, and/or notable cause. The 2010 Jeannette M. Collette Kindness Award was presented to Kappa Alpha Gamma Chapter (SUNY - New Paltz) with an average of over 81 annual hours per sister.

The ΚΔΦ National Affiliated Sorority Highest GPA Award is presented to the sister with the highest GPA for the fall semester. Both Hillary Hoyt of Kappa Alpha Alpha Chapter and Sarah Doyle of Kappa Alpha Iota Chapter achieved a 4.0 GPA during the Fall 2009 semester.

A big Thank you for all those who attended Convention 2010 at The Cape Codder Resort & Spa in Hyannis, MA. We hope you had a memorable weekend and enjoyed the kinship of your fellow Kappas, the venue and all the scheduled events.

In order for future planning of conventions, we have compiled a brief survey and request all undergraduates and attending alumnae take the time to respond by May 15, 2010. All responses can be emailed directly to Karin Taylor, National Meeting Chair.
