Galentine’s day seems to be one of those unofficial holidays that doesn’t get as much hype as it should. It is supposed to be a whole day dedicated to loving your girl squad so why not take the chance to celebrate?
Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation explains; “What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends as home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies”.
Taking time to show your friends you love them (even more than you do on a normal day) and spending time with them might just be all the self-care you need. Single or not, your girl squad are some of the most important people in your life, so taking every chance to celebrate that is a must.
So, let’s talk about ways to celebrate.

Nothing fancy or crazy but who doesn’t love brunch? Starting the day with your girls can only set you up for a great day.
Go get Manicures and Pedicures
Not that you need one, but it’s a good excuse to treat yourself. The semester can be a little stressful, so taking the time to unwind is important. It can be a great time to catch up on life all while unwinding and taking care of you.
Have a movie night
Grab all your favorite snacks, get in some comfy clothes, and pick out your favorite movies. A movie marathon is relaxing and an easy way to get together without spending money.
Potluck dinner party
Who doesn’t love food? And who doesn’t love a party? Hosting a potluck takes the pressure off one person and allows for a stress-free night to celebrate your girl squad.
In typical Kappa fashion, turn this day into a philanthropy opportunity
While spreading love to your girl squad, find a way to spread love to women all around. There are Women’s shelters and homeless shelters all around that can always use donations or volunteers. This is the perfect way to give back while still spending quality time with your friends.
Host a game night
What better way to celebrate than by laughing? Cards Against Humanity, What Do You Meme, left right center and speak out are a few good ones.
Overall, Galentine’s day is a day to celebrate you girl squad so no matter what you do show your friends a little extra love.
